Water tanks placed at various locations in Piketberg – Please bring water cans to fill up Bergrivier Municipality had to, unfortunately, close the reservoirs due to abstraction issues at the Raw Water Pump Station next to the Berg River in Piketberg. Therefore, no water will be available in taps in Piketberg. Over the past weekend, the Municipality experienced several technical issues concerning the switchboards controlling the flow of water via the portable water pumps, including issues with the raw water pump which is responsible for extracing water from the Berg River. The result of the series of technical challenges personnel had to endure from Friday, 15 February 2025 until Tuesday, 18 February 2025, including extremely high temperatures, led to the dramatic drop in water levels across all three reservoirs in the town. Both issues were successfully resolved on Tuesday, 18 February 2025 afternoon. Whilst the Municipality prepares to restore water to the reservoirs and eventually to households, large water tanks filled with potable water were placed at various locations in Piketberg. The locations are as follows: Thank you for understanding. Kindly remember to bring along clean water containers (bottles) to fill it up with potable water to use for essential purposes. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to restore all three reservoirs in the town back to full capacity. A follow-up communication will be issued before 10:00 on Wednesday, 19 February 2025, whereby the Municipality's engineers will indicate the time it will take before water returns to household taps. .
