Director Technical Services
Overview
The Directorate: Technical Services aspires to be a value-adding department when it comes to providing services such as: Upgrading, construction and maintenance of road and stormwater infrastructure; upgrading and maintenance of sidewalks; building control; provision of street cleaning services; composting initiatives; upgrading and maintenance of water and sewerage networks; planning and upgrading of bulk infrastructure projects; upgrading and maintenance of electricity networks, provision of refuse removal services; upgrading and maintenance of collection points and transfer stations. The Department is also responsible for recycling services as well as managing waste sites within the boundaries of Bergrivier Municipality. The Technical Services Department manages the implementation of all capital projects approved on an annual basis by Council.

The Technical Services Directorate is responsible for the following functions within the municipality:
- Bulk purchasing and distribution of electricity;
- Upgrade and maintenance of electricity networks;
- Bulk purchasing and distribution of water;
- Upgrade and maintenance of water networks;
- Upgrade and maintenance of water treatment works;
- Provision of sewerage services;
- Upgrade and maintenance of sewerage networks;
- Upgrade and maintenance of waste water treatment works;
- Construction and maintenance of roads and storm water within the municipality’s jurisdiction;
- Refuse removal, solid waste disposal, landfill sites and street cleaning;
- Maintenance of Council buildings;
- Building control
